Colorbond Basalt is a matt colour. The appeal of Basalt is that it works with so many styles. So while it is a classic roof for a Hamptons style home, it is a fabulous choice for a very contemporary home, particularly in its matt finish. Matt finishes absorb more light and are therefore darker than the same colour in the standard finish.

We are building a farmhouse with a high pitched Basalt colorbond roof with 3 dormers in the front and 2 at the back. The house cladding will be himalayan teak sandstone (with a wide covered veranda all around the house). I'm struggling with the dormer colours. Comments (4) Yes go monument!and if you go for some lime acacias out the front (tall weeping or the low bush)it would brighten up you whole look.Also adding strappy green plants that bulk up would give it a bit more of a clean look. If you don't want to go monument on roof go a light grey and tie in with a couple of tall light grey planters on.
